Is it possible to become "Injury Proof"?
There is SO much talk of prehabilitation/strength and conditioning/prevention techniques, can you really become "injury proof?"
I would take it one step further: if you do all of the work to become injury proof, ie. prehab, nutrition, recovery etc. but still end up injured, what's the point?
Here's my answer:
***There are definitely ways to prevent certain types of injuries: ie. overuse injuries: tendonitis, tendinopathies, stress fractures/reactions, but injuries can happen no matter how much we "prepare". There's also a difference between a traumatic injury and overuse injuries as well.
I think the way to look at this is: "What is the best way to set myself up in order to be the best version of myself I can be?"
Many intrinsic and extrinsic factors can also contribute to an injury, so understanding what YOUR specific body needs in order to make it the most resilient and best it can be, is key in order to keeping it strong and injury free throughout your gymnastics career.
What are your thoughts? I would love to hear them!
